Michael Prisco Caporale is the artist known as Prisco.
His professional career began with portraiture. An abiding admiration for the penetrating style of Arnold Newman and the deeper reflections in the work of Annie Lebovitz, his portraits are not just a likeness of an individual, but rather convey a deeper understanding of the essence of the person.
In 1979, he began to combine fine art with photography, by creating the images that were put before his camera. He regarded this style of commercial photography as "fantasy Illustration." This was long before Photoshop and digital manipulation, so each image was created physically, which often utilized background paintings, miniatures and fabricated props. With reps in Chicago, St.Louis, New York, Dallas and London his business flourished with a who's who of major clients.
Using the same skillsets and now with a support team of a crew of ten, he undertook a move into filmmaking. What began as commercials produced in film changed dramatically in 2001 when he filmed the very first feature film produced on a Panasonic VariCam, "Tattered Angel." This catapulted him to national attention and began a decade's long association with Panasonic Broadcast, traveling on their behalf instructing professionals on how to make the change from film to HD. While covering many major cties in the United States, his travels also took him to New Zealand where he trained the Directors Guild of New Zealand and to Alaska where he traveled and filmed the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. In the early 2000's he made films for other directors, but in 2010 he produced his own film, "The Black Dove," featuring John Savage, Abby Wathen, Sean Young, Red West, David DellaRocco, Lou Beatty, Jr., Jimmy LeeWilliams and Mia Caporale
As an author he has written 15 screenplays, 10 books and was a featured columnist for Film Festival Reportetr and Mobilzed News for many years.
